Cheesy Chips prove a popular snack

Every evening after prep we have snacks in the kitchen together.  On Tuesday I cooked Cheesy chips for the girls.  This proved very popular.

Fireworks at the Rec

The Summerhill girls and a few friends from Fonthill have just got back from watching the fireworks at the Bath Rec.  It was brilliant.

I made everyone sweet treats.  My mum always made treacle toffee for me when I was younger so I made a batch for my girls to try.  I also made peanut brittle and fudge.  The girls took a section down with them to have with the display.

Not much left here

We met up in Summerhill to walk down together ...

.... and then regrouped outside the Podium.  Then onto the fireworks.

It was a prefect night .....

... no rain and actually quite warm.  The fireworks were brilliant.  Half an hour of superb, deep bangs, sparkles and hisses.

We regrouped again at the end and made our way back to Summerhill.

Dave decided we needed nourishment so looked out for us with chips, both cheesy and non-cheesy which went down really well.

It was a perfect way to finish the evening.

A huge 'thank you' to my girls for making the effort of walking to and from town.  I hope you all felt it was worth it because I'd love to do it all again next year.

Manaho's 15th birthday

Yesterday, we celebrated Manaho's birthday.  I left a present from her guardian by her bed for when she woke up.  We sang happy birthday to her during registration.  In the evening, we celebrated with double helpings of chocolate cake. :)

Lara's birthday weekend

Friday 10th October was Lara's 14th birthday.  Because the boarders were watching a film together after prep on Friday, we decided to celebrate Lara's birthday on Saturday.  But after we had eaten pizza on Saturday night we were too full for cake so we delayed it until tonight.

So we have officially had Lara's birthday weekend.  Tonight, we sang to Lara and ate cake and ice creams.  Please note Lara's birthday orange - in recognition of all the oranges Lara likes to eat (although she wishes they were easier to peel).

Homemade Pizza night

On Saturday, we had supper in Summerhill.  There was a choice offered by Dave - Roast Beef dinner or home-made Pizza.  Pizza won!

So, I put 5 batches of pizza dough through my bread machine.  The girls came through to our house in groups of 4s and shaped their dough.  It was then left to rise for 20  minutes.  They then came back and topped their bases with ingredients of their choice (tomato, home grow sweet corn, mushrooms, olives, mozzarella, Cheddar cheese, onions, pepperoni, peppers, chillies, bacon).  A quick bake in the oven and the pizza's were ready.  We were like a well oiled machine with one group shaping their dough as others were topping (trying to reduce the waiting time).

A big thank you to Dave for his support again, and for the girls for making the evening such good fun.
