This
year Summerhill decided to help the charity BEAT by having a ‘Sock IT Day’ on Friday 28th February.
Sock
It To Eating Disorders is BEAT’s fundraising
campaign which took place during Eating Disorder Awareness week, which
was from the 24th February to the 2nd
March. Friday 28th February was ‘Sock IT Day’ - we wore crazy socks
or tights with our school uniform. Students helped us by paying £1 to join in and wear crazy socks or tights to school.
BEAT
is a charity that supports people who are affected by eating disorders and they
are aiming to change the way everyone thinks about them. Last year BEAT ran
support groups, blogs and help-lines and had direct contact with 250,000
individuals. Eating disorders are serious mental illnesses affecting 1.6
million people in the UK- they claim more lives than any other mental illness
but can be treatable and recovery is possible with the help of BEAT.
