Burn's Night supper and Celidh

This Sunday we celebrated Burn's Night.

We had the traditional meal of Haggis, Neeps and Tatti's (with chicken).  It was absolutely delicious.  The haggis was piped in and Mr Duke said some things in Scottish then stabbed it randomly in some sort of bizarre ritual.

The students had an opportunity to have a go at inflating the bag pipes.  Even with four of them, some groups weren't able to make enough wind to make any sensible noise.

After the meal we retired to the sports hall.  There we did 4 ceilidh dances and sang Auld Lang Syne.  It is my aim to teach the students the words before they leave!

Poppy's 18th Birthday

Poppy was lucky enough to be able to spend her 18th birthday, yesterday, at home.  Today we celebrated with her.  We were a little depleted as we had girls out doing evening hockey, badminton and at the gym.  We used one of the cakes from the 'Bake Off' competition.

I spectacularly timed it to miss Poppy blowing out the candles
